The Superstars Competition Team

Our competition teams offer a higher level of involvement for students who desire to work with a greater level of dedication.  The teams improve skills with additional hours of class and the opportunity to compete in a team environment.  They build character, instill self-esteem, responsibility, self-discipline, commitment and leadership skills.

General overview of each team…

Dance – The dance competition team is under the direction of Mr. Jay Peterson and assistant director Ms. Jamie Stringer.  Dance team members take classes in Tap, Jazz, and Ballet with the goal to train well-rounded dancers.  Competition team members are also encouraged to take classes such as lyrical or tumbling to enhance their training.  The dance competition team competes four times a year and attends National competition every other summer.

Baton – The baton competition team is under the direction of Ms. Dawn Reed and assisted by Ms. Denise Wood.  Baton team members attend team and technique classes during the week and members who wish to expand their twirling abilities have the opportunity to compete as an individual. The baton competition team competes in competitions across the Midwest and performs at halftimes of many local high schools and colleges.

Cheer – The cheer competition is under the direct of Ms. Cari Jones and assisted by Ms. Haley Flander.  Cheer team members take classes in Cheer and Tumbling and are also encouraged to take dance classes to enhance their training.  Students will learn competition level cheerleading skills, including tumbling and stunting.  The team competes at four competitions through the Midwest.

Hip Hop – The hip hop competition team is under the direction of Ms. Jamie Petersen.  The hip hop competition team enhances the dancer’s skill and technique in the hip hop genre.  The team competes four times a year and local dance competitions.

Tumbling – The tumbling team is under the direction of Ms. Cari Jones.  Tumbling competition is an individual based sport, so this team allows for some flexibility which offers students the opportunity to enhance their tumbling skills and technique.  The team competes at four competitions across the state.
